Sixteen pixels is the body. Most running text on the site is set here: a project's case study, a post, the answer to a question on the FAQ page. The measure is held short enough that a line lands somewhere between sixty and eighty characters.

Eighteen pixels is the lead paragraph, the one under a section heading that has to carry a little more weight than the text beneath it without becoming a heading of its own.
